Will the Minister of TEXTILES वस्त्रमंत्री
be
pleased to state:
(a) whether the number of
sick/closedhandicraft/handloom units are consistentlyincreasing during the
recent years and if so,the details thereof, State-wise;
(b)
whether handicraft/handloom
unitshave requested the Government to providefinancial assistance to make them
worldclass competitor and if so, the response ofthe Government thereon;
(c)
the funds allocated/spent under
theTextile Workers Rehabilitation FundScheme to the workers of Public
SectorUndertakings/Private sector during the lastthree years, State-wise; and
(d)
whether the Government
iscontemplating to implement the textile jobguarantee scheme for the assistance
of ruralfamilies living below poverty line and if so,the action taken by the
Government forimplementation of the said policyparticularly in the backward
areas of thecountry including Maharashtra?

(a) &( b): No, madam. No
such reports have been received in the recent years. However,
Government provides support for the development of handloom/handicrafts sectors
in terms of supply of raw material, designs, common infrastructure, marketing
assistance through various schemes which include National Handloom Development
Programme, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana, Design and Technology
Upgradation Scheme, Marketing support and services scheme, Research and
development scheme, Human resource development scheme, Handicrafts artisans
comprehensive welfare scheme, Infrastructure and Technology Development Scheme,
etc.
(c): The details of funds
spent under the Textile Workers Rehabilitation Fund Scheme during the last
three years, State-wise are given in Annexure-I. This scheme is not applicable to Public Sector
Undertaking and Cooperative sector units under State / Central Governments.
