TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran National Carpet Center (INCC) and China Tibetan Carpet Association (CTCA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in the carpet industry.
In a meeting attended by the heads of INCC and Carpet Museum of Iran and a number of CTCA members, the two sides inked the deal and emphasized on the necessity to boost cooperation based on cultural exchanges.
During the session, Hamid Kargar, the head of the INCC, highlighted the age-old history, breadth and reputation of hand-woven Persian carpets and said carpeting can be a good motivation for cultural interactions and a better understanding between the two peoples.
Iran has recently stepped up efforts to enhance its non-oil exports and reduce dependency on its oil revenues.
This comes against the backdrop of a wave of renewed interest in ties with Iran after the country and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear program.
The comprehensive nuclear deal between Tehran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
Experts believe that Iran’s economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
